Hey Everyone

The battery in the car ran flat, the first time it ran flat i jump started it and away she went no bother however after going away for six weeks the battery has gone flat again, i have sorted to problem causing the battery to drain and removed the battery to charge it. When charged i put the battery back in the car, turned the key in the ignition and the alarm went off and the engine didn't start, removing the key and pressing all the buttons on the key wouldn't switch it off so i ended up having to remove the battery.

Can anyone help me out, what is the proper way to put the battery back in and get the engine running? Its a 1996 4.0 P38

Thanks

taking the battery off in the first place was your mistake, you prob got
re sync issues now, help will follow soon,,,,,,,

The 1996 needs the keys to be resynced to the Car....

Usual way is to close the doors, put the key in the door lock and turn to LOCK and Press the LOCK button...then turn to UNLOCK and Press the UNLOCK button, open the door and start the car....turn car off, close doors and press the lock button.

Job done....

The later models (1999 on) used Passive sync by just placing the key in the ignition and turning to position 2.

If this still doesn't work, make sure you have good batteries in the remote fob, and the fob red light flashes when you press the buttons and try the sync again.
