how can i tell if my gear box oil is low, is it done on the transmition dip stick and how do i top it up, i ocasionally get gearbox fault come up on the dash board and sometimes this will kill the engine. but then will restart 1st time and drive again ok.

you need to check it when Warm ..so, run the engine lift the hood & then cycle the gear shift from "P" to "1" & back again (Leaving it in "P") then check yer dip stick.

If it requires Oil then buy some AFT Oil (Auto Transmission Fluid) & top up as necessary down the Dip stick hole.

Last time I checked mine I put nearly 3 litres in it !!!:eek::eek::eek: Gear shiftin was MUCH smoother after that !!!

i too have the same problem,30mph engine just died lucky i was on a A road and not on the inside lane of motorway:eek:GEARBOX FAULT,but i thought you had to check oil level when engine is cold?

I always check mine "Warm" ... there a mark/s on the dipstick "Cold" & "Hot".

It should be checked with the engine running ....
"cold"and"hot".i thought the marks were "high"and"low"level:doh:,no wonder i,ve got a foooking GEARBOX FAULT message.cheers matey will check the hooded claw way tommorow see how i get on.
