hi iam having trouble with my multi function unit some days it works other days it does not eg back wiper interior light etc work one day and the next day it chooses not to. does anyone know what could cause this and how to fix it as it is giving me a headache trying to work it out. many thanks

i had the same problems with mine(96 disco) and it was the MFU. had been told it might be a dry solder joint on the pcb but i couldnt find one so i got a second hand one fitted it and everything worked again.
if your lucky you will have the black MFU and not the cream colour one. the black ones are easy enough to get mine was the cream one and took me months to find one, in the end i found one in texas in the u.s and had it sent to me here in ireland.

Mine packed up in the bad winter of 2011-12, I overloaded it :( by having every electrical that goes through MFU switched on at once, so no rear fogs or wiper, no interior light or delay on the front wiper plus no lights-on bleeper was the first thing I notice.
Went to Rimmer Bros for a replacement.

Most of the components on the PCB are surface mounted, so best of luck with any soldering. :)

Don't rule out the relays behind the kick panel trims either. Had many a strange electrical fault with mine (beige mfu as well :( ) changed that and still had the same problems. After pouring over the rave wiring diagrams, changed all the relays and the electrical gremlins were gone! They are mostly standard 4 pin ones, so cheap enough to replace.
On the plus side I do have a spare beige mfu now :)

thanks everyone for your help and advice. will be checking relays first as iam one of the lucky ones (ha ha) to have a beige mfu and my local wreckers only have black so here's hoping its the relays. again thanks
