Hi, I've had my disco for about 10 years and Have always had a problem where I turn the ignition and there's nothing. After about 5 - 10 mins of constantly turning the ignition it would go and no probs for about 4 months. Over the years it's got worse and I've resoldered and finally bypassed the spider unit and fitted a new starter motor. All the leads apear ok. I've just spent £700 on MOT and service and the Bl**dy things done it again.
Anybody got any ideas ?

Hi, didnt u think that it could be caused by the ignition switch itself.......or did u replace it too and no joy?

The starter motor doesn't turn. Would the Fuel Stop solenoid cause this?

Actually I Didn't think of the ignition switch, will investigate thanks.

No. if nothing at all suspect dodgy starter solenoid/loose connection, or steering column switch gear I had same prob and it turned out been the permanent live supply dying as soon as ignition switch was switched on I spliced in a 2nd permanent live and it cured the problem.

I was writing in the same time with redhand....he was more specific...check the unit...if not follow the ignition path from the diagram with a multimeter and see where u lose the ignition's feed.

Cheers guys. Will try a new Ignition switch I think as the fault is intermittent and see if that cures it. Thanks for the help.
