Hi

I'm new to this forum so hello everyone.

I've owned a 1999 4.6HSE for a while, just recently she's stopped revving over 4K when in gear/driving. It justs hits a wall at 4000 rev's and stays there.

If I put it in neutral it rev's all the way round with no problems.

Any ideas?

Sounds like something is in limp mode.

you should get those anoying beeps when youve past the speed limit that has been set, if this is so set the ****er higher:D

It's not a settable speed limit on the computer, it's just a settable warning. Exceed the set speed and you'll get warning beeps and a message saying speed exceeded, but this has no other effect. You can happily exceed the set speed. The P38 does have a factory set speed limit though ASAICR, something like 125 mph for the 4.6 and 115 mph for the 4.0. Kick me if my memory has failed though. The engine is limited to something like 5750 rpm?

Thanks for the replies.

It's defo. not the speed limiter. If it's a limp home mode then surely it wouldn't rev cleanly when in neutral.

Any other ideas, some suggested a dirty MAF or Air filter but I'm not convinced these are the problems.

Does the gearbox change normally between all gears and torque lock engage at 50 mph?

just an off change i had a problem like hitting a wall at 3500 rpm, she wouldnt go any further, but in neutral ok. It was the MAF sensor, changed and now purrs and drives like a train :) Just worth a try.

Well it was the MAF, new one fitted and the cars seems to doubled it's power....cheers for the help.
