noticed earlier today a spot of diesel on the floor under the engine bay.traced it back to the fuel pressure regulator.is it worth
1-buying a new one from lr.
2-a rebuild kit.
3-buying a new one AND a rebuild kit for the leaky one.
4- buying a pattern one.:eek:

Normally I would have said after much reading on here, go for the Genuine article, however and no doubt this is the kiss of death for me, I've checked back an old receipt, when I had work done and found that amongst other work the FPR was replaced with one from a Blue box, its been there a few years now and all seems good, might just be a fluke. But no doubt I've just jinxed that
 
I bought Genuine from a LR dealer on line- (Matford LR I think) much cheaper than my local dealer. Go genuine but shop around!
It is a pig to do (did mine myself) so I'd advise NOT trying to fiddle and fix, replace it and do it only once!!

I`m ringing matfords in the morning £134.99 + post,and I`m having a rebuild kit anorl fer the leaky`un,nought like a spare;),bin in the archives-looks fiddly but I`want to have a go:eek:
 
i did a reapir kit on mine and its been fine(3000+ miles so far) i would say if you have large hands it is a pig of a job, my hands and arms looked like freddie kruger had been at me when i had finished.
 
Personally I wouldn't bother with a rebuild kit. Did'nt work on mine. Bought a genuine one. Be aware that the genuine one is MODIFIED.

the one I received has 2 pipes on it,for a w-2000 reg,i think the 01-on have 3 pipes,don`t know why they changed them,anyone know?:confused:
 
there are trwo types of FPR on the market, different part numbers as in the links i previously posted, for early 10P and latest 15/16P engines and you must order the correct one for your engine, if you've got the 2 pipes type for 2000 year engine send it back and ask the other one cos it will not fit what so ever...also when you'll be there anyway check the small strainer which is in the head under the FPR/o-ring, give it a clean with white spirit or something cos it won't hurt

It's the early ones I am referring to above. The one I bought from LR had a different gasket pattern to the one I took off my 99 car.
 
When I replaced mine on a W-reg (it was a 2 pipe regulator), the new LR one casting was a slightly different shape, and looked more sturdy and less inclined to warp.

The casting also looked like the same as the one for the 3 pipe, but that opening wasn't machined out.

I rang matford lr and they confirmed it is correct,on the invoice it says-
llr016319 c14h connector
lmsx000010 d10a04c4 (t) gasket
I will get a second opinion from another dealer this afternoon
