I have a 1993 Discovery 200tdi which has recently taken to electrics failure just when you need her most. I have managed to trace all the failures to the fusible links. These links are 8 to inch long brown wires marked fusilble link which are crimped at both ends to a heavier duty cable. The battery end of these links is in excellent condition but the "car side" crimps are completly corroded, probably because they are wrapped up in a moisture trap pouch. As a stop gap I have soldered the links restoring power but this won't last for long as the solder will have a lower rating than the link. I propose replacing these links with a fuse box from a 300 model utilising the modern fuse units so need to know the fuse rating of the original links. I have contacted my local dealership service department and they have no idea of the rating so I contacted Landrover direct and they don't have a technical department to answer the question.

Does anybody on this forum know the value of these links and if not would it be okay to use the 50A and 100A fuses as per the 300?

Thanks

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It' s a good idear to use the 300 engine bay fuse box for the fuseable links, they are 1x 100amp STC1757, 3x60amp STC1758, 1x40amp STC1759 and 1x30amp STC1760.
I don't have a clue on what circuits they protect.
And a Merry Christmas 2U

Thanks "nicedayforit" for the link, checked out with my local dealership, kit AMR 3927 is correct for my Discovery but it's no longer available. I doubt it's something any dealer/repairer's likely to have kept "just in case" so will have to keep a close eye on my repair until I get round to carrying out a mod to install an engine bay fuse box from a 300.

You appear to be able to buy it from here but when you see the price you'll probably want to stick to the idea of a 300 fuseboard ( £125 ).
Thinking about the fuse ratings I'd go for 60A all round, after all you're protecting the cables nothing else.
