iv got an s3 and am now looking at buying a 90 and power steering is a must have this time what year did they start coming with it fitted as stanard thanks.
 
My 1990 didn't have it. However it was almost certainly on all Defenders with the TD engine. But then you don't really want the old TD engine.

200tdi's were available from 1990 - go for one of them or the 300tdi if you can - they all had it.
 
im hopeing for for nowt older than 1990 but hoping to stretch to a proper 200tdi not a converted one.
 
my 1985 defender has power steering and its the best power steering i have used a 2005 nissan micra has the worst steering i have ever used
