Power steering problems.

Hi Folks, a little bit of help needed from the hive please.

I have a 300tdi and a 4bolt power steering box that was working fine. I had to take the box off to get the drop arm off, I then replace both pipes, 1 to the pump and the other to reservoir. Refilled with power steering fluid with nearly 2 litres(book says 2.9l). Power steering is only there when the revs are picked up but not when at idle. I've tried turning from side to side at revs and then bleeding but it returns to the same. Am I missing something or is this a sign that something is on the way out?

Any suggestions or advice gratefully received with thanks.

Kept fluid topped up as you bleed?

I had to bleed my son Ninety with the wheels off the ground..

Yes, all topped up.

Got to be air in the system if you only put 2lt in and the manual says 2,9 lts was it all draind out if so do as@Anaconda says wheels of the ground
