Power stearing

Hi,

I have been using my disco 1 this weekend to tow a car on a low loader trailer, But i noticed under braking the car seemed to pull to the left, also when driving straight if i ease off on the stearing wheel it vears to the left a little..

But now after I re hooked up to the empty teailer (at which time it was fine) i swiched off the engine for a few mins then when I started up and pulled away there was no power stearing at all.. The fluid is full right up to the top of the tank, not just to the line on the little dipstick, its right to the brim..

Any ideas?

have you done any work on the power steering system recently??? could be an airlock if you have plenty of fluid. Check the steering box for signs of leakage though - they do seem to be quite prone to failure.

Also, your serpentine belt is still intact isn't it... if not your pump will not be turning!

I havent had the car long, only about 3 weeks, they told me the engine has only just been fully rebuilt.. there doesnt appear to be any leakage.. I'll check the belt, is it the same belt that turns the fan and water pump?

Checked that mate, the belt is working fine, turning everything as it should.. cant see any obvious leaks, the reservoir is still full of fluid..
