Hi All,

About six months ago I replaced the power fold mirrors with the ones from ebay, they have worked great until today. There is power going to the mirrors because you can move the actual mirror around but for some reason both mirrors will not fold in or out, this only happend today I have checked the fuses and that was fine. Is there any other thing I should be looking at to get them back working, I don't think it's the mirrors as both stopped working at the same time.

Cheers

I don't think it's the switch on the dash, before you could hear a clicking near the passenger footwell but I didn't notice it today so it could be a relay switch or something else down there.

Did a search of the Rave disc for the power fold mirrors and followed the diagram for all the fuses. Found one 15amp fuse in the fuse box had blown, replaced that with a new one and still the mirrors won't fold in or out.

Does anybody think that the dash switch, relay, or the ECU could be faulty and how would I check.

Thanks

Before you go hunting electrical problems - force fold them both in (as in, push them) and then try the switch to get them out again. If someone knocks them even a bit it mucks something up and they refuse to budge.

Yep tried that, there's just nothing there. I can hear the little click down by the pasenger footwell and all the other functions work.

I'm putting it down to the relay, just been to get one from my local Ford dealer, £26  as it's the same as a ford one. They are out of stock so it's on order for Monday.

Nobody has bumped them i have to close them in to get in my garage as the doorway is a bit narrow. I had the car backed in yesterday then wanted to turn it around to face in thats when it happened doh!!

If the fuse had failed it's drawing to much current which could point to a failed or rusted motor? I can't imagine it's a relay as they normally fail open which wouldn't blow the fuse.

Hi Nodge,

Both mirrors are around six months old so can't see it being a failed or rusted motor. They were both working fine until yesterday. Fuse F15, 10amp is the fuse that had blown so I changed that for a new one and still no responce, and the fuse is still intact.

Something has caused the fuse to go. I can't see it being the switch as it only sends a pulse to the CCU iirc. You need to pull the multi plug and test feed to the fold motor.
