Is there any way I can try one before buying - I live in Wiltshire but can travel. The reason is I have paid a fortune replacing parts to cure intermittent misfire (2.5 DSE) and it now "seems" to be down to ECU management of timing/fueling and a "chip" box should override these things. So I want to plug one in for 1/2 hour to see if my problem goes away. This can be seen on tickover, so no need to drive away. Is there anyone who could let me try theirs ? just to plug it in for a short while. I don't know if this will cure my problem but I think it will.

Thanks.

Just to be balanced, I bought one for my old diesel Rover 75 and was very underwhelmed with the increase in performance. It cost over £400 as I recall.

By contrast, I bought an £80 box of tricks for my X Type diesel (which connected to the fuel rail sensor and fooled the cpu into thinking fuel pressure was down a bit thereby opening the injectors for slightly longer and injecting a little more fuel) and that was sensational.

phillh - thanks that is in fact what I expect to see. But I dont want to pay out £300 on a guess. So if anyone can help I will be very grateful. Thanks.

If you have fueling problems, don't expect a powerbox to cure it.

i bought a power box from a place called ROVERRONS for my rover 75 131 bhp diesel, what a difference it made, lots more power, cured the 75's notorious flat spot and gave better fuel economy,i also have the psi powerbox on my p38 diesel and this has made a huge difference to the power out put and fuel usage also,to the better i should add,i would recommend one of these units to all p38 diesel owners, you will not be dissapointed.:D:D

I just wanted to try one. I dont have fuelling problems I have an intermittent ECU problem but all "faulty" components have been replaced or checked. This fault has been verified with Testbook at Swindon 4x4 who are recommended (elsewhere) P38 specialists. It gives some unusual error codes (sorry I dont have them) and they were unable to fix it but suspect a problem inside the ECU. Trouble is the car can run perfectly for a day and then starts coughing again. But when it does have a problem it usually lasts for 5 minutes or so and is obvious with a lumpy tickover.
If anyone wants to buy the car - let me know

I put a psi powerbox on my previous motor a disco2 td5 and made the world of difference.
Pulling out onto a motorway was no longer a life threatening event.
A big difference but its never gonna make up for a lack of cubic centemeters, i got myself a 4.6

If your house was on fire would you put it out or hide behind a wall so you could not see it? Masking a problem is a very dangerous tactic.
