Powder Coating D2 Axles

Anyone ever had a set of D2 axles powder coated?

Mine are in **** state and I can get a used pair cheap off a mate.

I'd like to get them zinc then black coated but don't know if that will screw up the area where the seals sit on the front axle (rear is just an o-ring round the hub). Also worried it might mess up the holes for the steering knuckle balljoints.

Anyone any experience of this? Should I just sack it and get em painted?

i wouldnt say axles being powder coated is the best idea. similar to powder coating a chassis. might look nice to start with though.

Leaking engine oil, power steering oil and waxoil seem to keep mine in reasonable nick.

Wish they'd done the same for mine, they're proper scabby.

OK fair enough, saw some at the powder coaters the other day and wondered if it was worth doing.
