possible water pump

Hello again all, I have a 300 tdi and the last few days i have been getting a very high pitched squeaking noise, coming from what i think might be the water pump pulley. . . the noise increases with the rotation of belt when driving getting higher and louder, drop the clutch and it has almost gone. I am looking to see if any one knows of any other problem within this belt/pulley section, ie oil pump, alternator, fan etc. Many thanks if you have any answers..

This TDi 300 is well-known for making canary noises and they usually come from the belt tensioner. Do a search for the penny trick.

I had this noise for about 3 months after buying the car untill the fan belt belt snapped. Replaced the belt and it instantly snapped the water pump pully off. Guess the tension of a new belt was to much for it. I'd say your on the right track looking at the pump. Its a straightforwad replacement job and I've not had the squeel since..
