tried serching through the forum for threads on portal axles but no joy. question is; are they worth bothering with? do they effect motorway driving? and are they easy to fit?. hmmm should have said "questions are"

well I guess that sews that one up then.thanks for the sound advice

Perhaps just some bigger wheels then

going to drive down to morocco next year and I wondered if the portals would add a little somethinsomethin to my defender

Whilst I got a thread going, I might as well change the line of question. is it better to fit a roof rack directly to a roll cage; or to the roof as normal?

roll cage makes more sense. but what makes more sense is attaching whatever you have directly to the cage thus saving up top weight (bad) my RTT is fixed directly to the cage.

A fiat panda is a small 4 seater fiat produced in the early 90's, also available in 4 wheel drive :):)

Portals are axles which have drop gears at each end allowing the diff to be higher than the centre of the wheels, thus giving around a foot of ground clearance, maybe more. They are usually fitted with leaf springs but can be heavily modified to take springs. Most sets of axles come from malaysia nowadays. Correct me if im wrong
