Hi, I'm a total newbie to any forum so please excuse any gaffs.
Brief LR history, 2 RR V8 clasics, 3 Disco's 2 v8, 1 300 TDI 1, Defender 90 300 TDI. Now have 2 P38's (Don't ask)
My on road 2002 Vogue 4.6 p38 has just passed the MOT- yes just!
It had a brake effiency of 52 %, have replaced brake fluid and rear pads (due to skeaking) but no improvement:eek:.
Not happy with less than perfect brakes, the pump turns on every brake application, have looked at forums on interweb but not sure of my next step as diagnosis by part substitution would exceed the cars value!
Any advice appricated.

If that's correct then your next step is to replace the accumulator.

make sure to follow brake bleed procedure to the dot. RAVE
if accumulator has leaked nitrogen into brake fluid, all must be changed again

So they told you the rear brakes are low on efficiency?? The brakes can be tested as pairs front rears .

New pads old disks not bed in,if they are that new should bed them in before mot
That's probably your problem as well as accumulator , especially if your pump is activating after each press

Change the accumulator. 30 presses of the brake pedal with the ignition off to depressurize, unscrew and replace. Simples. No need to re bleed the blakes if you did it properly the first time and no need for new fluid as the nitrogen will have been lost before you changed the fluid.
