hi

seeing all the posts regarding cb etc, ive also found out the response group also use pmr radios and have a licence to use a certain channel

with regards to the aerial set up i assume they are totally different than a cb aerial

is there such a thing of a combined cb and pmr radio please

as im going to mount my cb aerial on a spare wheel bracket could i fit the cb and pmr aerials side by side, as i thought i could make up a double holed bracket so they could then both be mounted together

then run 2 leads from the back on the front and fit them in front, the cb aerial would be fitted so would know the other is the pmr aerial lead

so that if i use a mobile pmr radio and use it in my car can then connect it to an aerial for better range

sorry asking daft questions

many thks

gary

As a guess, I would say that there wouldn't be combined CB and PMR radios as the wavelengths (frequencies) are totally different. Hopefully I'm wrong tho.....

As stated above, they are completely different using different technology's and frequencies.
CB uses a PLL AM system at 27MHz.
PMR uses an UHF FM system at 446MHz
The aerial each needs is very different too.

the type of pmr that requires a licence is around 449 MHz and according to which CB you have can use between 25 and 28 MHz but totally illegal for them frequency's but 27 MHz is the cb frequency at the moment . if you devide each one into 300 then that gives you the length of your antenna if you were to have a full wave and then you can divide that into like a quarter wave or 1/8th wave or course the bigger the antenna the better but I do not think there is a bridge in the world that you could get underneath with one that size Maplin do, do arrange of antenna's but have a look on the web you will find lots there , hope this helps if I have the old grey matter working correctly
