Pop into your local aquarium/tropical fish shop and get a sheet of filter foam.
When I got mine a couple of years ago it cost £4.50 and when cut into strips there's was enough to to three disco plenum's.

The was three grades of foam at the time easy seen as they are different colours, you don't want to get the very dense one as it may restrict air flow into the heater
As it's for aquariums, it's unlikely to be UV stable.

They way I do it, the clips stay on the body, I don't think I have explained it well, the trim slides off by pulling from one end.:):)

I will try that next time but they were a very tight fit on the body and not so tight on the cover. Looking at the filter, which I replaced last year, it will need doing again soon. Looks like the mice have been at it.:)

I had mice nesting in mine:eek: There are some openings at each end with no grill that the little buggers could get into. I fitted black perforated alloy grills to stop them, I'll use the same stuff next time I have to replace the plenum filter.:D

When I was in the trade we were servicing a Renault, the lad took the air filter apart and there was a squirrel drey inside, complete with a store of acorns. Had to cover the air inlet tube with chicken wire.:D

Used to get 2 bob a tail when I was a lad from the park keepers.:D

There would be an uproar if they did that now. The damage they did to young oak's on the shoot I used to be a member of was terrible. Remember being asked to join a cull in an allotment area next to Walton Prison, it was overrun by Magpies. We turned up and there was hundreds of children and mum's demonstrating against it. Seemed they were brainwashed by a kids tv program and thought the birds were nice and cuddly.:D

That's the trouble with the UK, too many people want to impose their preferences on others.

Replaced mine with some stuff my dad had over a new original one, seems excellent but its just as fragile as the original in so much as in normal use no problem but had to redo it after having the car washed at one of those places where they use high pressure hoses. So now have to remember to ask them not to point the hose at the plenum.

Got a new one. Taken the measurements and made a rough template for future replacements.

Had a look at the job this evening. Looks like the door rubbers will need to be stuck back on afterwards and they seem to be held on by some sort of double-sided tape - or is that a previous owner fix?

Stuck on on mine as well.
