I'm sure English is the first language in Australia, or is this some form of code? And why the vote?
The picture shows the flat power steering fluid return pipe. It's supposed to be like that, if that's what you're asking. ;)

Thanks this is my first time using threads so I'm not sure. My mechanic tells me I need to replace it cause it's not meant to be like that but I seen alot of images that look this

The hose is made flat as it's used as fluid noise damper. If you order a replacement, it'll come already flat. Ignore the mechanic, as he's obviously not up on the Freelander, or know how power steering works either. My advice is to find a better mechanic.

It's much more important to make sure the VCU is in good condition, and that it has 4 identical tyres, with the least worn on the back.

There's a thread on here which tell owners of the FL1 how to look after it correctly, so it's AWD system doesn't explode.
