the battery claims to be about 75% charged, is this still the case?
also thanks for the advice where is the best place to get one that A isnt a million pounds or B going to blow up in my face?

Well, it could be a lot of things but many time click means battery, or bad earth, or bad connections, or bad starter, or...

I am but a neophyte, so go make your introductions properly to the whole of the forum and maybe the big brains will give you a hand.

It could be a faulty solenoid on the starter. Sometimes the spade connector get covered in crap or is badly corroded so i do recomend cutting it off and re crimping a new one on, while your there clean up the terminal on the solenoid, Disconnect the battery and remove the wires from the starte motor and clean up/reassemble. Next check the earth cable all the way from the battery and remove and clean all conections. Reconnect battery and try again.
If still nothing try adding a booster battery or getting the battery tested. Is it the right battery for the landy ?

If all of the connections are clean, and the battery is ok and it is still dong this then it sounds like a fault with the solenoid on the starter, Think there about £40 for a new one, Personally if it looks an old starter buy a new one for about £100.
If you need a battery search online for the Numax CXV-X its a great battery i have two in my landy
