hello

i have a 54 reg td4 with 65000 just serviced inc fuel filter and turbo filter

few months now been runnung lumpy, sometimes its hard to start then a load of grey/blue smoke then its fine for a while ,, then whilst driving along at any speed it starts to pull back a little with smoke bellowing out the rear, i increase speed a little even as little as 1mph and it stops.

getting to the point of having the bloody thing crushed lol:mad::confused:

cheers in advance guys

Exactly as Opti says, & also run a high dosage of injector cleaner through as well. Make sure your variable vane mechanism on the turbo is free (& vacuum solenoid is working) & check your MAF using the unplugging test if the other things don't work.

hello

thanks guys will try these, i have already replaced the crank case breather and the egr valve has been bypassed with a purchase of ebay, i have unpluged the maf and was the same so will look at intercooler hoses,

where and how do i check variable vane mechanism on the turbo is free & vacuum solenoid is working???

cheers

would also check the Hp fuel pressure sensor and its connection for the corrosion issue.

yes in the end of the fuel rail, it can give similar erratic running etc.

have you fitted the repair harness?

Usually when you unplug the MAF, and if the MAF were faulty, the engine performance should improve as it then reverts to the preset values held by the ECU.
