Hi all,

I have used these forums so many times and found the answers to any questions I've had without ever needing to ask - that is until now. I've been the happy owner of a Discovery 1 (1994) for the past 10 months and it has been great - 22,000miles + with no major trouble until this week. Got home Friday night after having the tailgate bottom hinge replaced, locked her up no problems. Yesterday, tried the keyfob - no luck, surprise surprise its nothing new but on the second attempt I heard the lock mechanism start to move but only very briefly, tried again and again and nothing (one button key fob and the LED is working so not a battery issue) - gave up and tried again today no go. Used the keys and all set for the alarm to go off but nothing, central locking isn't working either. Got in, tried the ignition all lights on, stereo on, tried to turn her over but nothing?

Have look at fuses and earth connections first also the fusable links buried in the fabric of the main wiring harnes near the battery. Then go to the alarme ecu behind the glove box and check the connections are all the other electrical 'bits and bobs' working?

And :welcome2: to the Forum

All Landies have spiders.....they come fitted as standard but have nothing to do with the engine starting:behindsofa:

Thanks, and cheers Discool I had a brief look at the fuses and checked earth connections but nothing seemed loose but not wanting to do more harm than good figured it would be best to post something here before digging a deeper hole. All other electrics are working, I haven't checked the windows but shall do so now. Slightly interrupted by the Hurricane display overhead on the seafront!

- Yep everything else is working, windows, lights, mirrors - all fuses by the battery are fine, and all connections have been wiggled?

Well it appears that my Disco doesn't have a Spider, a friend was good enough to strip out the dash to get to it but with the stereo out and all of that jazz, nothing, no little black box. Turns out there is a firm near by that will do a new remote and sync it for £40, figured that was worth a try, beyond that no ideas.

Is it a 200 or 300 ? , on the 200 there is a box under the dash, drivers side next to the fuse panel, it seems to control the immobiliser/locking.

I had trouble with mine and had to bypass it .
