Hello everyone
i have a problem with my discovery2 td5 it doesnt start frist thing in the morning. Possibly there is fuel running back to the tank. These are the items that i have fitted

new battery
new starter
new copper washers and seals
new loom
new fuel pump
new air bleed vavle
new one way valve

there are no leaks anywhere.
I can leave the disco parked for up to 8hrs and it will start.
The disco is kept in the driveway on a slight incline, i have tried this both ways and doesnt work. A full tank of diesel and it sometimes starts. If i start it and leave it run for 30 seconds and go back an hour later it wont start. The only thing left to to is the pressure vavle which is on order today.
My local landrover specialist said i will have to live with the problem. Any comments and help will be greatfull

Your land rover specialist said "live with it"

Id find a new specialist if it were me!

Post this up in the disco section mate, you;ll get a better response. Always better to post up in the relevant section as most of the disco gurus will go there first to help.

I cant help you as i dunt ave a disco. But :welcome2: to the zone anyway and good luck with your problem.

And don't mind Stormy. His &*^)%$'s in the right place. ;)[/quote]

i thought that was a polite reply from storm theres been worse:D

when you have this problem in the morning can you here noises from the fuel system ie poss air in the fuel. If so have you purged the system to see if that helps. I am having the same sort of problem at the mo but mine can just die on me for no reason and then its like lack of fuel and will turn over but not fire.

The fuel is running back to the tank somehow. I can hold the key over for 10 sec and it will start first time. But before Christmas you only had to touch the key and it would start. Looked at it tonight there are no leaks and everything is tight. Fuel regulator to change next. I was going to do it tonight but looks a pig of a job.

Have you check the leak off pipes that run across the top of the injectors for splits, as these can allow air in and make starting difficult. Not had alot of dealings with a td5 so just guessing here

yes changed the fuel filter. i havent changed the regulator yet due to the fact that it has started to start first time from cold for the last 5 mornings. i even left it 24 hour before trying.
