Hi to everybody in the forum, hope everybody is doing well?
I am currently living and working in Guatemala, Central America, and much to my surprise, on my arrival i was given the keys to a 1990 RRC 3.9 V8.
I love this wagon!! it has so much character and is great to drive around here, where everybody drives Yank/Jap motors.
I have to date had a bit of a overhual on the engine, new paint, new suspension, etc etc, however i recently did some research on the engine number and found out that the engine should be EFi, however it has carbs!!
How does this effect the engine? is it good or bad?
I have noticed that after driving and then stopping, there is a very strong smell of unburnt/unused fuel!
What is this due too? i had to clean the plugs the other day as they were all coked/blacked up.
I really want to get the best out of this engine, and get some better mileage.
The mechanic here suggested a new ignition coil, distributor, leads and plugs? also they have suggested some other fangled things that i cant quite get my head around.
So any suggestions on how to help me out would be greatly appreciated!!
