hi all,

new here, just registered to ask your opinion as my girlfriend needs to get to work!

ive got a landrover freelander k series 1.8

the head gasket was done 2 years ago with the uprated kit by landrover
2 days ago all the water ended up on the floor!
i checked it over and the plastic pipe along the back of the block was disconnected, there was a bolt missing that holds it in place, i fitted a new o ring and a new bolt,
i seamed to have a nightmare bleeding it? used both bleed screws, removed bottom one and top one 2 turns when filling up untill water coming out, then screwed them up.
the bottom hose wasnt getting hot, nor was the rad? fan was working and rest of system hot.
i just changed the thermostat it has an inline pipe one that connects to the bottom hose, as it seamed that it was stuck shut?
just bled it and its very similar if not the same, the temp is normal at idle but the rad is cold, when you drive the temp goes up and down if you slow down.
there is no air in it that i can tell,
i think its the water pump?

can anyone tell me or a test to test the pump?
if it is the pump is it an easy job or a nightmare?

thanks in advance

Not the best time of the evening to be asking for acute help..

Was the freeby cold when it lost the water?
Is it losing coolant now?
Can you let it run for 20 mins and temp guage sits normally?

thanks for reply,

it was warm, had started and driven 3 miles,
dosent seam to be loosing water now, could be sucking in air though?
if you let it idle for 20 mins the temp sits half way as it should it just rises when driven?
its as though the pupms pumping only a small amount so idle is ok but when driven the pumps cant pump enough to keep it cool?

cheers

1.8 k series water pump is cambelt driven. camshaft locking tool required.

Have you tried fast idle, rad cap off and heater control to hot?

try editing your location, although k series are notorious-maybe someone local will look

water rises if caps off, ive tried every other combination, fast idle top bleed 2 turns open ect
