hi lads i was driveing my p38 on s reg when oil light came on stopped right away checked it lots of oil on stick drove 40 yards then started makeing a knocking noise towed it home checked the next day starts like a new motor then when it starts getting warm say 4 mins oil light come on then knocking starts then oil light flickers i would be very greatfull for your opions thanks vince

faulty oil pressure valve/oil pump failure or big ends worn.

As above, get an oil pressure test guage on it, and start from there.

Wear and tear takes time, so if the crank was worn it would have given symptoms before now. If it was sudden then, oil pressure relief valve stuck or pump died, both inside the engine and if there is no pressure or low, replace them. Also the oil pickup pipe may have broken or fallen off in the sump. Oil and filter ok?

when i checked oil its over the full mark but ok when i dipped it the other day it was low so topped it up to the mark yes this as just happened suden

don't run or drive it until you get an oil pressure test done

ok i can get my hands on a 525 bmw with engine rear end smash it's got 70 000 on the clock would i be better off dropping that in there mine as 158 0000 on the clock ps how much would a pump and valve cost

please help if you can
