New to Landys (1999 110 TD5) and have a couple of newby questions.

How much play should I expect in the transmission? Should there be any play on the prop shafts?

At low road speeds I get a sound from the steering when turning to the left. Someone told me all Landys do this - is this right?

Is there a fix for sloppy door hinges or do I need new ones?

Thanks in advance.
Pete

Hey up Fletch.

There should be a bit of play in the propshafts up to a quater of a turn seems acceptable, I've got slightly more on the front one but am not unduely worried.

Where's the noise coming from it's quite likely to be the CV (swivel) joints.

There was a bit of a fight on here a bit back about door hinges. If monies no object and you can't be bothered to re-pin the old ones then get new ones. I think there about a tenner each. If your counting the pennies and have a bit of savvy. Or just dont like chucking money away, I'd re-pin them It may even work out easier and it's free if you've got some odd bits of small dia rod.

Thanks Grunt, I have a lot less than a quarter turn play on the prop shafts so that's OK - Phew!

I'll look at the steering joints and have a bash at re-pinning the hinges.
Thanks again,
Pete
