Plastic wing liners?

I've just been de-rusting my front inner wings, and I haven't put the plastic liner back on. Should I put it back on? It seems to me to do more harm than good.

Anyone got an opinion?

put em back - it helps reduce all the mud and ****e getting between the inner and outer wing.
