while I'm on with tarting up my 202 Disco 2, has anybody else's Disco2 shed all the black/grey paint on the plastic wheelarch trims? Mine are not looking pretty... fading from grey on top sections to the raw plastic...

Halfords do a plastic trim primer and paint.. may try this unless anyone has any horror stories / beter ideas?

trim paint horror story?

taking lease car back next day so goes to tart it up a bit to avoid valet charges. go to car bits shops and buys stuff including grabbing a tin of back to black **** fer the dash board.
it getting dark as i apply the white 'foam' to the dash, all over the dials, gear knob, gear stick surround, bits tray, and any other placcy bits wot look like they would benefit from some back to black.
fooks orf fer a coffee while ah leave it fer 5mins and come back to find that the back to black white foam stuff was actually white bastid trim paint.
some cockhead had put it on the wrong shelf as ah found out when i rushed back to car bits shop fer something to try and remove it.

whole fooking display says "back to black, make yer placcy bits like noo" every fooking tin wur white trim paint.

How about a thread for doing stupid things???????

you mean like having a display wots clearly says "Back to Black" and then stocking it wiff white paint?
so that anyone wots see it and just grabs a tin will get fooked up

I it were me my defensive friend,i would've tested it it on a small area first.

Only bit of plastic on ma td5 is the front bumper!!! an that still looks like new.
But dare i say it................ a used tae have a gaylander fir a while,(a'know)
an that wis made o plastic.... An a used tae use simonds or simonize back 2
black cream polish, put it on thick wait 5 an buff it off... looked good fir a
week or 2, then it looked like a lego brick again...

surely RSM72 your TD5 has had bits dropping off it when driving then?
My TD5 has the same wheel arches as every other.. they were a dark grey colour, but are now sun bleached light grey and patchy!!!!

Bought some Halfords Trim Spray and even spent the extra for the prep/degreaser spray.. now just waiting for a British summer so I can even do the job... maybe next year?

I had same problem on the bumper corners when i had my 300Tdi I fixed it with some thined down tyre paint looked like new after

My 2001 Td5 has the same problem - was reading about it on another forum and someone mentioned that he used a product from Auto Glym and got great results . Will look it up and get back - I know Auto Glym have a wide range of products for nearly every part of a car .
