Hi all
Before I sell my old steed, a '92 Shogun, I will dismantle the pre-heater and install it in the P38.
I first thought it would be very difficult, as I might have to set up some sort of interface between the webasto and the HEVAC system in the RR. However, I think I found a way around it, but this is where I need your help. The heated water will pass from the pre-heater, via the HEVAC matrix and to the engine block. What I need to know is this: Do the blend motors stay in the position they're in when you switch off the car, or do they return to some sort of "start" position? If they stay put when I switch off, all I have to do is turn the temperature right up before I switch off, so that the blend motors are set to full heat. I can then hotwire a relay directly to the blower motor. When the webasto fires up, it will energize the relay and start the blower, and with the blend motors set to full heat, all the air will pass over the heated matrix. So, do the blend motors stay put, or do they move when I switch off?

Another question: Is the fuel pump located in the tank? I need to draw fuel from the tank when the car isn't running, so I need to tap into a fuel line which isn't blocked and goes all the way to the bottom of the tank (return lines often go only to the top). If there's an in-tank fuel pump, this very often has a shut-off solenoid valve which closes when the engine is stopped. On the Shogun, the pump was underneath the car and I could tap into the line between the pump and the tank.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

It's not too important to get advise from someone who's done this install before, although it would be very helpful. However, if someone who's familiar with the workings of the HEVAC system can chip in and tell me if the blend motors stay put when ignition is turned off, I'd be very grateful. The rest of the install is actually pretty basic.
We're having a bit of a cold spell here in Norway, so I'm keen to get this done.

Cheers!
Henrik
