I went 2 the library and took out some os maps but some I have found and are still open and outhers are closed I don't realey wana waste time driveing them 2 find them closed is there any way I can find out witch r open and witch r closed

Firstly make sure the maps are the latest version & upto date. You might as well buy some for ya self as you'll need them to find the lanes and make sure you stay on piste, whilst driving them. Otherwise you'll end up halfway down a lane with no idea where it goes to next..

Once you've worked out the lanes you want to drive. Check with the relevant councils highways officer that the lanes still have vehicular rights and don't have seasonal or permanent TRO's in place.

Hi, Newport here and also new to the forum :)

I was in TRF, I'll do a bit of digging around with a few mates still in and see what I can find out.

Not been greenlaning, 2 wheels or 4 in over 20 years and have a serious itch now the wiff has a freelander :)

Thanks red and stu 4 ur help I think I will go buy some instead of uesing them library 1s lol and trx do u know where wentwood is cos I no some places up there its not 2 extreme unless u wana take them tracks but u should b able 2 get some mud on ya lol:D

We learn our lanes by following people, reading maps and trail and error. Around here I personally know hundreds and at least half of them I've found myself on maps or simply turning past an unsuitable for motor vehicles sign.
The best way to learn is get a map and a pen and go and do it. You might find out they are blocked but the simple answer is tough and that's part of the fun. Take a mate and make a day of it. Last weekend I set off at 9am and got home at 12pm with a mate. At no point did I go further than about 30 miles from home but I found enough lanes to stay out non stop all day.

If your based in Cardiff have a look on here, you'll need to register but it's free

www.bonkas4x4wales.com forum

They're a good set of lads that run the club and have regular organized greenlane trips around south Wales and pay n play days in radyr, abadare and Caerphilly, plus there's always someone going out and about (including me) so you can tag along :D
