cheers james, the pipe do seem to go back under the bulk head tunnel, i dont under stand why the is water coming out off it lol

i will turn the over flow from header tank up tomorrow to see what that does, what i wanted to know was where do the pipe go and why would water be coming out off one off them, thanks for your help mate,

still carnt find where pipes go to, if i blow into the header tank the water comes out off the pipe //////

Well if when you blow into the header tank water comes from one of the pipes i think you can safely assume it is connected to the tank and is indeed the overflow pipe. Now then, why is water coming out with engine running? Duff cap or too much water in tank (coolant will be ejected if overfilled) fill only to level with engine cold. There are other reasons but best not mention them yet. Get the system and cap pressure tested.

I don't suppose your gearbox oil cooler is located in tha bottom of the main radiator is it? If it is, it's possible the rad has failed and you have a gearbox full of water. Normally on the P38 auto the gearbox oil cooler is separate but some rads come with the cooler in the bottom and it could have been modified at some time.

right i have sussed it out , there must be an oil cooler on the gearbox and its gone tits up, i have cut through both pipes from the bottom off the rad and looped them together and it all seems fine now ..no more water leaking, i didnt know the manaul gearboxes had oil coolers lol

Good idea to drain the water out of your gearbox and put some fresh oil in then replace the rad:)

Hi,
If it's the header tank overflow, it should go sown below the tank., towards ground. But, the position u have shown are for auto box/transfer vent lines.

I guess someone would have got the header tank o/flow tube to this level so that o/flow tube stays above the tank. U need to change the filler cap or else by now u r experiencing overheating issues.

the water was coming out of the breather pipe off the manaul box, fixed it by cutting both pipes from bottom of rad the blanking them off , time to drain water out off gear box i think lol

Flush it to get all water out before you put new oil in, and it would be a good idea to fit a new rad. The oil cooler is not there for decoration, LR spend as little as possible making these cars, if it was not needed they wouldn't fit it:)
