Classic Pinion Flange Size Question

Just a quick question regarding pinion flanges. And diffs. Back the day when I bought a Truetrac for the rear axle, I also ordered a HD pinion and crown wheel set. Didn't realize that those only match the later 24 spline pinion flanges.

Two questions: Can the later crown wheel be fitted to a 10-spline diff? And is the four screw 24-spline pinion flange compatible with a 10-spline type propshaft? A new pinion flange is cheap enough and easy enough to mount.

Otherwise I'll just put the set on sale with all the other bits and pieces I don't need anymore.

I'll give Ashcroft a call one of these days, they should know. Seems the compatibility of RRCs and Disco 1s, and between early 2-door RRCs, later RRCs and those post 1985, only goes so far. A pity the workshop manuals do not come with technical drawing for the parts.

Could you use 24 spline shafts?

My thoughts are the axles were all the same so all you’re doing is upgrading the shafts.
