Just did my tappets, they were way too tight and the engine sounds quieter and cold starts a lot more easily. However a sound similar to dropping a pin on a floor now comes about at random when driving, there is no rhythm to the sound and no effect on performance. I am quite sure I've done the tappets properly. Ideas?

Bit of closure. Finally found out what was making the sound. Turned out it was the brake pedal, pressing it really sets the sound off, just coincided with doing the tappets. Have to have a look at that now...

Changing the way the engine is running has likely changed the engine vibrations - which is resonating with the brake pedal. Mine rattles a bit when cold, this dissapears once warmed up.
