pics of swing away spare wheel carrier please

come on you budding photographers!can someone pleeeeeeeeease post a piccy or 2 showin how a swing away 'attaches' to the door. is it a latch or clip or somethin cos i dont have a clueeee. wanna check that if its somethin you attach to the door itself then that I can attach it to mine, cos theres some unremovable junk already on me door!

anyhelp would be grand guys!

they usually either connect to a plate which bolts to the door, if it opens with the door or if it's like mine then it has a spring loaded peg that clicks into a slot at the base of the mounting arm where it bolts to the crossmember.

the one like yours redhand, is there a downside to that?is there a type that make opening the door from inside a pain or is that me jus confused??

Yu can't open the door from the inside at all if the wheel carrier is in the closed position. But as mine doesn't have seats in the back it int a problem for me.

You can see the operating lever in the pic in the previous post. the rubber block on the wheel carrier is to stop it rattling when in the closed position.

Nope it has a cutout in the mounting plate and the lever has a strong spring you have to pull the lever up with one hand and open/close the carrier with the other hand.

ahh rite, kinda need to be able to open door from inside hmmm, can anyone post a pic of the door plate that the other type of swing away (the type that allows you to open door from inside),attaches to please...i'm guessin its this type...fookin double the price!!!

This one opens with the door....







Prefer this one as sometimes there's folk in the back of the bus and they can get out without me having to go and open it for them

ERE ya go PM976 Rear Door Spare Wheel Carrier 2002MY onwards - swings open with rear door fook of a lot cheaper than Craddocks.

Ah think it's either a craddocks or paddocks swingaway wheel carrier. If ah find the reciept ah'll let ye know for sure
Forgot to add that it wasn't too bad to fit, just had to drill some holes and that was pretty much it

they all look alike they're only really the 2 types that you can get. there might be minor differences and the build quality might be better in some but as long as yu keep em greased and look after em they'll all outlast the land rover they're bolted to..

Found the reciept, it came from Paddocks and cost me £113.98 on the 5th nov 2007

anyone recommend an alternative supplier than paddocks who do the spare wheel carrier that opens WITH the door, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease i'm gettin desperate here

mantec, scorpion racing. must be one or 2 on ebay at the mo. that paddocks one looks the same as my scrapiron one buster, greesy hinges etc. very nice, good price too.

Rugged trial do a nice carrier if you have the $$$
