Hi, thought I would put up a photo of my freelander, dropped her of for the re-test tomorrow, brakes still not great but have my fingers crossed!!

It seeme to me that in terms of MOT tested roadworthiness these cars seem to do pretty well actually, there's tons wrong with mine but nothing that's going to fail an MOT. Passed first time after 8 months off the road and several previous maintainance shy owners.
 
Well it passed! brakes were at the bottom of the acceptable percentage but scraped through :eek: after this I don't think I would buy another freelander to do up but I only paid £400 and it's a diesel with leather and aircon, 4 wheel drive system was overhauled by dealership with new clutch last year. All in with the parts it has cost me £500 so just need tax and then the real test...... daily driving! I am sure I will be back shortly with some issue or other but that is part and parcel of freelander ownership I guess, lucky I can do the repairs myself.

For the freelander haters on the forum I forgive you, it must be hard with all the welding and chassis replacement on those old brick shaped heaps so I can see why you would be so frustrated by freelanders. Big love to ya anyway!:fencing:
 
Well mine copes very well thanks, Last time i took it round a muddy course i got round better than a few defender's and RRC's thanks to the better weight and traction control.
Some of them were equiped with AT tyres as well.

Did they say how to improve the brakes? Does it need new pads discs etc?
 
My brakes are scary compared to my 130 BMW so it's all relative.

My brother in law has just spent around £2k on a new gearbox and a load of welding on his 98 Disco that he has had from new and has been loving looked after and done no more than cross a few fields or driven to work on normal roads. A lot of money on a well looked after vehicle.

My cheapo Freelander gets me across all the mud I need it to and I can't weld - if I wanted to go laning I would have bought a Disco or Defender (I'd rather do it on my trail bike though) but a lot of sensible people want a handy cross-over vehicle that doesn't drive like a tractor so here we are and generally we're happy (I think).

Mine went straight through its MOT this week. 4th time in five MOTs for me. The only failure was on emissions a couple of years ago. Reckon that was the start of my injector that eventually failed earlier this year.
 
Mine has passed all MOTs without advisories. They are not a car for drivers who ding have a feel for things mechanical but if maintained and things done when they first arise they are a good car.

I did post the MOT pass rate question in the hope of favourable responses;)
