Name of Lane: Pheasant Pen Steps Trailwise UID is SJ1731-01

OS Grid Ref SJ 178 229 To SJ 172 322

Voluntary Restraint signs have been put up tonight. These ask that all responsible motorised users refrain from using this ROW.

A repair is in the planning.

Please could this be made a sticky?

There is a slight hole in it.

This did not cause any more damage to the road its the persons who have driven to the right and not taken care who have done more damage. Probably the same persons who who were ripping up peat bog on white rocks lane in two moded nineties unfortunetly i could not take a pic. I winched this guy out and the only damage was to his bumper so theres no need for the language. No the facts it helps. I would like to point out that under that murky water it was down to solid ground it is just the hight of the step that was the problem.

For a start most sensible laners would have NOT driven into the hole. They would have driven around it, if that was not possible then turn around/reverse out.

As for the hold it is not solid ground for about 3 foot. The hle has been forming for about 4 years, it started as a little hole, but with people driving into it it has gotten bigger and bigger. The mud/sludge then has been pushed out of the hole onto the ground next to it.

Before anyone asks when did I last see the hole, it was sunday when we went to have a look and get a work plan worked out.

And that makes it right does it?

Don't think so.

Not trying to stick up for the guy who ended up in this situation through inexperience and was embarrassed of his predicament ( and ime sure theres a few of us who have been there) but as i said there was no more damage done. I have just signed up to CRAG myself because i want to help when i can to preserve these lanes and are rights to access them and would been the first person to say some strong words to him. In the long run i dont think he will make the same mistake again and i was glad to have help him out with no damage done except to his bumper. I certainly agree this lane needs to be sorted out and if i had known the condition of it would not have been traveling along it. Think he lernt a valuable lesson

If there are plans drawn up for the repair i would like to help out if i can. With experience in Landscape work, walkways, field drainage and track construction as part of my every day job i hope i could be of assistance. If anyone nows if i can be then dont hesitate to contact me thanks Rob.

crag are working on plans for a repair. I will post up when we have a dete set.

But does anyone have a360 digger with a pecker on it for a few hours an a saturday morning?

So it's the hole that did it rather than the drop-off?

So to get my green laning ettiquette correct...if one were to come across what looks like in the pic a drop-off which would end up in an almighty thud in my car...I am assuming 1. Going round it is a no-no as it is straying off the track. 2. You could reverse...but then that will more than likely make the people behind stray off the track, making that a bit pointless or... 3. How about useing waffle boards....or would that be considered attempting to go through something seemed as unpassable if it gets to that stage? Wouldn;t have thought it would create damage?
