2.4? have they made a puma engined disco?:confused::confused:

What engine is it? If you don't know, what year is it?

If it's pre-td5 (200tdi or 300tdi) you should be fine as they are pretty robust. You may have problems starting it in the morning after the fuel has seperated. I would drive it around to use some fuel up and get some more denzel back in the tank. On older vehicles 10% contamination is acceptable so the sooner you can get he balance right the better.

hi engine is a 200tdi year is 91
wiil add diesel as it runs dwn then than k s 4 reply mate i feel much better now

Its not too hard to open the tank though so it may be an Idea to empty it and find someone with a Russian Truck, or empty half and fill up with more Diesel then when empty put the other half in with half fresh Diesel.

To get to the tank pull the carpet in the boot back, take the screws out of the cover plate and then untwist the coller of the tank using a hammer and a extension bar or the likes, Screwdrivers work but can damage the plastic.

Wack a pipe in and suck till you have a mouth full of Diesel!

Or just stick a tube down the filler neck and syphon it out of there!! Much simpler.

I've always heard a bit of petrol together with the diesel always help cleaning the injectors.. maybe not as much as you put in though...

not as bad as the **** next door, he put 40 litres of petrol in his golf a couple of months ago and he has a 45 litre diesel tank, that din't run vary well for a while after he got me to empty it for him and clean all the pipe work out, lucky for him he got away with it though

Just leave it - it won't cause any harm as long as you don't make a habit of it. I would be tempted to throw a litre of engine oil into the tank just to thicken it a little and add some lubrication back into the fuel.

The pump will be fine with that much and thats really all you need to think about here. In the winter petrol was commonly added to diesels to keep them running through the winter, the military use a lot of kero and avgas (highly refined petrol) in the 300tdi's and have a very similar pump and things are fine!

Only thing though is the engines run alot hotter and not lubed as much with F34. The vehicles are serviced alot more when the have been run on Avtur(F34)

Heggars

I'd just leave it, take it for a drive and run some of it out, then brim up with diesel again. Petrol is abrasive, which isn't good for the fuel pump, but it won't be too much of an issue at a ratio of 3:1.

If it were me I wouldn't put any oil in, it will just sit at the top of the tank. 75% diesel dilute is okay, run it for 20/30 miles and top up with diesel again.
