Hope to get my DHSE early next week and thinking of a performance boosting chip/box. I have seen reports on the PSI box but nothing on the bearmach power plus.
Yes ECU chip needs replacing so is this the best way forward but not the easiest?
At least one person on this forum has reported ECU failure after soldering in the new chip. For me that represents too much risk on an old car, so for me the power box is the low risk option. Newer ECU's like my Transit can be re-mapped through the OBD connector, now that is worthwhile.
Do Bearmach actually make a power box or is it just a re-badged product from someone else?
Don't know if they actually make the power box, I will ask and report back.
I think I favour a plug in box myself so that is likely the way I will go. I don't have the car yet, likely be Tuesday (will post photos!) and I will run it a while before I fit the chip/box.
Give diesel Bob a look While your shopping. I've got one on mine, the difference is very noticeable to say the least!!!
Which ever one you get trust me you will think it's money very well spent... I'm sure if you take them out of there little boxes they're all the same...
I've been looking around at the various products available, including diesel bob, and I agree they are all likely much of a muchness! So what separates them? price perhaps, claimed performance? which likely depends on the condition of the vehicle they are fitted to. When I looked at diesel bob's I noticed fitting is more technical than just a simple plug in. Having said that the trial period is 30 days and it is cheaper.
Sorry I've not seen how they are fitted, fitting on mine is a case of plugging the box into the back of the fuel pump and identifying the (I'm not sure what it's proper name is) boost valve wire and splice into it, takes about half an hour.

Told today, it is their own manufacture (not rebadged) and it is £338.54 inc VAT. Maybe go that way.
Before you do, look at the PSI Power Box, no splicing to do just plugs in
It's not fair, if they've stopped making my box I can't join in anymore! :-(
Ahh, never mind. Now stop stamping your feet and be thankful for the good times you have had with your DB box. And don't worry, I am sure they will still let you join in.
