Not quite sure, I think it's a 2010... Certainly by my standards it's brand spanking new. Does quite a lot of work miles in it, so it's seen some use already.

He's a had a bit of trouble with the turbo too. Dealer hooked it up to diagnostics and said there was nothing wrong, but driving it down the road caused a 20foot cloud of oil smoke out the back. Great fun, but not nice to those behind you.

I doubt it. Unless the dealer offered to do it.

He doesn't like to get his hands dirty if he can help it!

It must be a 2011 model, it's only 18 months old.

I'll let him know. I thought they's sorted the gearbox problems out on the later L322s?

No, the gearbox is still fragile, just not to the same extreme. However they didn't make the mistake of selling it as sealed for life. IIRC, it is every 5 years or 50k, whichever comes first.

I couldn't agree more.

The turbo issue ended up being a bearing seal or something. The dealer he bought the car from (brand new) claimed there was nothing wrong because the diagnostics said the car was fine.

However a test drive up the bypass would have shown them that once the turbo was spinning up to speed, a 20 foot cloud of black smoke poured forth from the exhaust.

Some dealers are just crap I think, or at least, they just don't think.
