Hoots mon...
Hi guys,

I noticed a few of you have had an issue with the front backing plates departing company from hub due to corrosion....

I'm sure they are not expensive but i'm a tight wad...

I just recently did my front brake pads and mine were only held by one bolt,
there are three in total.. Heres a simple tip that i use in such an occassion..

Get some 'penny' washers, these are the broad slim washers with small centre holes, fit one behind and in front of backing plate mountings, creating a sandwich, i also smear the washers in copper grease to eliminate corrosion.

There are no issue with clearances, and it saves going to the stealers.

Happy thrifting. :)

I did a similar thing yesterday with the heat shields on the underside. The holes in the heat shields around the captive washers were all split & washers were not holding much, so fitted large washers over the holes & re-fitted the captives.:)

Did notice there was nothing left of the shields around the height sensors though!

There should be on a P38, just the remnants left on mine. Should be easy enough to fabricate something.
