Being a tight wad just wanted to know which os maps you kind people have, 118 or 119 or both. Already got 110 and 128 but thinking of 'doing a bit' around the peaks in the next few weeks so any advice greatly appreciated.

Also a heads up on which lanes are currently closed would be good to or where I can find out about closed ones.

I've done the ones around where I live in Twycross area this weekend and fancy a bit more of a day out of it:D

Ta very much like....

The PDNPA are really helpful people, you should call them. :pound::pound::pound:

Because I get the feeling that if I call them they'll advise me that there are plenty of lanes just not in their county. Computer says no..... now sod off to Wales:rolleyes:

Yes im sure they would love you.

Bunch of W@nkers they are

I know you still will want to go but, i dont know why! wales is a little bit further and 10 times better.

No walkers, or the few there is are not bothered and much more chilled out. And your not having a constant battle with land owners and the PDNPA.

The lanes are just there for all to enjoy.

Oh and there is 100x more lanes as well. :D

I know exactly what you're saying but my father in law is in his seventies with Parkinsons and he's coming with me in his Pajero and as Ashbourne is forty minutes away compared to Rhayader which is two and a half hours, the Peak District wins at the mo.

Plus the fact, as I lead and he follows it's usually him that gets any abuse:D

I think your going to have to contact the councils bud.

sheffield and Derby, not entirely sure what/if any other councils they peaks go into.

Trailwise cant be relied on obviously as the PDNPA are whacking closures on everything left right and centre!

Good luck

Staffordshire too .. for the Peaks.

If you can wait a few weeks there'll be a few weekend or day trips soon, now the weathers picking up/getting wetter!

We're off out around Ashbourne etc on tuesday next week, but that's already a filled trip, sorry .. we're recceing a few 'new' lanes so might be a brilliant day, might be utter ****e with lots of back-tracking! We usually go to Buxton and Northern areas, but we've been discussing it and poring over maps about going further south for a while to try more! Mostly 'cos we rarely do and there are far fewer TRO's, probably 'cos there are far fewer Byways ... :(

We use Explorer 259 Derby, 024 White peak, and 001 dark Peak .. but these numbers are the digital Memory Map OS 1:25000 maps .. or Region 6 1:50000 .. I don't know what they translate to in paper maps .. :)

Marmaduke - I see you are fairly local to me.

You will have to come over to Melton Mowbray area if you fancy a days laneing. My mate who I go out with (who doesn't have a landy at the mo) lives in Ashby. I'm busy the next few weekend but will probably be out again in a month or so.

Mr dieselmonkey that sounds a fine idea, I've also got some major work to do as the tratters MOT is due in December and I need to get busy with the welder so I'll drop you a line towards the end of November if that's OK...

Hi, I live in Ashbourne and would also be interested in going out at some point.

I am not about this weekend though.

Never been laning, but grew up on a farm, so can drive off road a bit
