the prog im using on my android phone is MMtracker it uses all my memorymap maps
the phone is a samsung galaxy sII

will agree memorymap themselfs dont have an app for android yet
but i have found that mm tracker on the android is the dogs dooo dars.
though I do have to upload my maps and routes to my phone with out using the main memory map prog
what i do is export all that i want to put on phone to a sep dir. then transfere to phone
I cant fault the app at all. i actually think memorymap will be hard to beat it.
plus when the App for android finally does come out will it woork with people using the older versions of memory. or will they be forceed to upgrade to the newerversions. and pay out for it

I'm also pretty interested in these now.

Idealy a tablet but looked at the scroll (and then read your comments) rules it out, doesn't have GPS on it either. Has anyone got a more final recommendation for a tablet? That runs Win XP and has GPS attached (thus meaning MM can be loaded and no need for extra Bluetoothy bits attached)

I'm beta testing the Android app from memory map. Have to say its looking good.

Agree, I tried it for a week and have now bought the app.

I also have Free access to ALL of the Memory maps at 1:25k and 1:50k.

If anyone needs them gimme a shout.

just incase anyone wants to know, memory may have a pre order for the 2012 landranger great britian dvd £99
there is aslo a beta for the android app. can post a link if anyone wants it

I have been using MM or about 4 years now first on a Mio PDA then on an HP Ipaq. and for last 2 years or so on an Asus EEEPC, with solidstate HDD and a Maplins USB GPS dongle. And have to say I wouldn't change it for anything..

Redhand,

Did you ever have problems with an error message "R232 thread"?

Im running MM on a samsung netbook and it stops tracking every so often then says not responding and comes up with said message.

Its ****ing me the **** off to be fair.

If you type in the code OS2012-UPG at the checkout it'll knock 40 % off the 1.50k maps for the whole of the uk on 1 dvd -- total bargain

i got an old note book (doris dropped it but managed to get a replacement hard drive fitted ) run a maplins GPS dongle
works very well and big enough that i can read it at a glance without me goggles on :D

What is new about the 2012 maps? Will they have updated the lane status etc?

Would imagine any new restrictions etc would be on em can't be 100 % sure
I think the main update is you get the whole of the uk on 1 disc opposed to having to buy the regions seperate

Just tried out an android for this purpose.

It was **** - keyboard useless.... touchscreen inaccurate.... software slow and unreliable - given the choice my blackberry is much more useful.

Now then... THAT is a sensible solution! Fit a SSD instead of a normal Hard Drive and there are no moving parts to worry about. Quality!

ASUS EEEPc are solid state HDD.. It what i've been using unfortunately both have died (no power up no charging light??)

So now looking at a touchscreen Tablet & Android.

On another note anyone wanna fix me pooter for me?? :D

I'm currently using an Ipad with windscreen mount. I use an app called outdoors but the ipad will also run MM.
I did 9hours of Green laning recently and had about 35% battery left at the end. A car charger is only about £5 for it though.
It's nice and small but the screen is large enough to see where you are.
Another bonus is I can use the front facing camera to take pics. Can also speak with someone on skype and show them what they're missing heheheh.
