Passenger side lights front and rear not working

Last week a collegue informed me that my passenger side rear tail light was out(1997 300Tdi Disco), I got a bulb changed and no different. Tested one I took out and it was fine. I then checked all my lights and found that my front and rear were all out. This afternoon I have had a meter across everything I possibly could, checked all fuses(and swapped over) but no isssues. Strange thing though is that the rear tail light that has the brake light on it works when brake pedal pressesd so I am thinking it maybe my stalk light switch. Does anyone know where the earth points are for the passenger side? I can find the drivers side which come off battery and also the one of wiring loom that connect to the wing but nothing except washer pipes on passenger side. Any help appreciated.
 
Had this fault on my Freelander 2, the rear passenger light not working after changing a blown bulb. The brake light on the same connector still worked?
Read somewhere it doesn't have a fuse, but is managed by the ECU. The ECU checks to see if the bulb has blown, and eventually gives up trying it. Disconnected the battery (didn't need a radio code as it's built into dash on FR 2?), left it disconnected for 15mins, connected back up and light now works fine. Saved a visit to the dealers who needed it to be booked in - cost etc :)
 
There are two fuses for the side/tail lights on the 300tdi Disco 1; fuse 2 for the left hand lights and fuse 8 for the right hand lights. Both are 10 amps each.
The stop lights are on a different circuit even though they are in the same glass bulb and also share an earth connection, so that's nothing to go by.
Whatever fault exists is unlikely to be in the stalk because it switches the lights on the other side.
Modern blade type fuses aren't the most reliable types, the blades and the sockets can corrode giving rise to poor connections, and wires can also become detatched behind the fusebox. The only way to check this kind of fuse is either by testing with a multimeter or substituting with a new fuse, they're cheap enough to throw even the occasional serviceable one away.
 
I would check the fuse box itself - is the socket corroded / has it become too wide leading to a poor connection? Or has a connection come lose on the back of it?

If it was the earth, then the stop light wouldn't function. Also it is unlikely that the front and rear sidelights will use the same earth.

If it was the stalk switch then I wouldnt expect either side to illuminate

and i'm fairly sure the wiring to the two light clusters will split off fairly soon after the fuse box (if not at the fuse box) so its unlikely to be a wiring fault... a wire shorting to earth would blow the fuse which would then be noticeable.
