Evening all,

First post on the site so go easy! I've been getting big puddles of water in the foot-well of the passenger side of my Defender 90 (2000) when it rains or gets washed. I'm pretty certain it's not the sunroof, or the door seals.

Below the windscreen on the passenger side there is a vertical bracket with 3 x bolts with 13mm heads, which I believe joins the bulkhead to the windscreen? The water appears to be coming from around this bracket but also a few inches further towards the drivers side so I think the seal here could be nackered.

If anyone has had this issue before and can shed any light on it and point me in the right direction as to what's involved in the repair i'd be grateful.

Thanks, Dave

There is a thin gasket behind that hinge ( though it won't actually be a hinge on yours! ), easily replaced, good to add some sealant to. Windscreen seal can also leak, as can the windscreen frame-to-bulkhead foam seal. This seal is a bit trickier to replace ( roof up, windscreen frame out ) but still perfectly doable. You can cheat by cutting a thin slither off the face of the seal along it's length and then apply some form of sealant in it's place ( Tigerseal, for example ).
