Hi, front passenger door will not unlock either with the fob or manually, anybody have some tips or is it just a case of trying to get the door card off as best I can, although this will be difficult with the door shut, other 3 doors work with the fob just fine but if you manually lock the drivers door from inside it does not lock the back doors.

just too clear things a bit, will t key put t door lock up or down when you turn t key in t passenger door, if it does t problem may be deeper, you should be able to look down between t door and t glass on t outside to see is there any bar of t mechanism

the door actuator has a switch pack inside on the passenger side there is one for the central locking and one is the door open closed switch. The door handle rod connects to the actuator as does the cable from the inside handle neither will work if the c/l on the door is activated the mechanism for the c/l is operated either by the sill plunger or the electric motor in the actuator the sill plunger physically moves the mechanism to hit the switch sounds like there is a power issue but it also sounds as if the sill rod has disconnected
I have an old lock in the garage let me have a look and see if there is any way to bypass you can get access to the door from the outside with a coat hanger by taking the door trim off by the window but let me look will get back to you tomorrow

Ok can get access with the window down, the plunger rod is still attached and the door handle is not stuck but the door will not unlock, is it possible to fish out the wires and put direct current to the lock to see if that works, other than that I'm stuck, thank god its not the drivers door.
Thanks

Unlikely afraid as the harness is clipped to the door at the bottom it runs from the door outstation which is high near the hinge across the door cable tied then down the side and back up to the actuator - sounds like the elctric motor has burned out and taken the micro switch with it or vice versa - the door card will come off with the door closed ( I havent done this myself but been told it is possible ) just be careful as there is a screw behind the tweeter housing sorry cant be more help

Chances are the C/L motor has burned out, thats why it won't work on remote.

Do you normally superlock it when you lock?

The sill button will not work if the car has been superlocked. So if there is no linkage off then it must be superlocked.

Which is why it's better just to give it one press when locking I suppose. Imagine if all four went when superlocked it would be Dukes of Hazzard entry only!

No just lock it as normal unless I pressed the button a second time by accident, still trying to work out how I am going to get the door open, mates in the trade so will ask him tomorrow and see if he has any idea, its got to have happened before to someone as can't go on with 3 doors. Ok its a problem to solve and there will be a way round it.
Thanks for the replies.

Ihad this problem and had to smash the lock to get the door to open, as it was super locked. then had to buy a new door latch. I hope its just a rod come off. here is a link to the way of getting the door open again.

Door Lock Failure: Getting the Door Open (4.0/4.6/p38A)

as doug says youll have to break t lock, not been able too open t door is a lot different than not been able to unlock it. do a search in t thread search and youll find t answers , i posted on here before how i solved this problem twice, you ve two choices, break t lock or take off t back door and cut t striker bar , they are your options

OK eventually found one, should get it in a couple of days, decided to have a look at the SRS steering wheel coupling aswell as the light is staying on but its a sealed unit.

I have the same problem with mine and i have ordered a new door lock as i think i am going to have to destroy the lock to open the door.

If you put a search in the common faults you might find a site that tells you how to do that

Got my replacement lock so busted out the old one, just kept breaking the plastic and the door opened itself. Replacement lock had different wireing so split the lock and put the old motor carrier with the motor out of the replacemet lock (the motors just clip out) into the replacement mechanism, fitted it to the door and now working just fine. Obviously when opening the replacement lock you need to be carefull or you will end up with lots of bits and head scratching. Thanks guys for the tips.
Cheers
