I have power steering on my 90 but I think it may be needing some attention as there seems to be excessive play, so the wheel needs to go a fair bit before the wheels start to move.
Say I am on a country road mainly cornering to the right and I keep the wheel over in to the right it will be fine, but then I come to a left hand bend and I feel that I am not actually in control for a split second.
When it was manual I would swing it about the same roads no bother, but when I was out on Friday night I felt almost like I was a learner again as the steering was not responding properly so I was sort of training myself to act a little earlier and PREPARE the wheel, i.e. get it over to "bite point".
I took the disco out later that evening and I tried to measure the amount of turn on the wheel before the wheels turned and it was instant.
I reckon in the 90 I need to move the wheel about 40° of the opposite way it was last going in to get it to respond and the disco about 5°.
Not nice!
I take it there is an adjustment on these boxes? If I can't adjust it then what is the most likely cause?
Also, I do have the full size wheel on, so if there is any give its being slightly multiplied, but I still think its excessive.
If its going to be expensive I will just put the manual box back on.
