Recently on my old TD my power steering pump was leaking and was drawing in air and managed to get water into it when going through a ford. :doh: so i got a 2nd hand one for £30 and stuck tht on it but the fluid went all mayonasey again. 
Put a 200tdi in the old girl a few weeks ago and filled up power steering all was well for about 100miles then the power steering started to die and wen i checked the fluid levels low and behold it was nearly empty in the reservoir and it had gone that pale pink colour it goes when water gets in it. Is it possible that there was still some contaminated fluid in the steering box which is responsilbe for this?? no visible sign of any leaks or anything havnt been through any water since ive had the new engine in so am at a bit of a loss. cheers
