Hi,
In September 2007 my 2001 Disco TD5 Series II failed its MOT because the PAS box was leaking and it cost some £650 to get it fixed. In June 2008 I noticed the fluids levels were dropping again and my main dealer confirmed the PAS box was leaking and replaced FOC under warrenty in June 2008. Low and behold I noticed last month the fluid levels were dropping yet again and this week my main dealer has again confirmed the PAS box is leaking from the top seals and is now refusing to fix it under warrenty saying that Land Rover's parts warrenty runs from the first replacement part in Sept. 2007. The current part is therefore 8 months out of warrenty. How does that work - surely if Land Rover fitted a new PAS box part in June last year and it has failed in approx. 8 months that is not fair wear and tear and not fit for purpose and should be covered under warrenty too.
How can Land Rover say they will only cover the very first replacement part for 1 year and if subsequently it fails and yet another new part is fitted its warrenty is from the original replacement part! Where is the accountability and incentive to rectify, from what I can understand, a known problem. Also how do I know if the main dealer fitted it correctly in the first place?
Has anyone had similar issues and how did they resolve it? Any help and guidance would be very much appreciated.
