PAS box and pump

Has anybody rebuilt these two units, whats involved and is it possible DIY. (I have a large selection of hand tools, pullers and a press), heard something about reaming a bush, is that correct? I'm a mechanic by trade but i've never rebuilt one of these, just the cost of a seal kit against a recon unit is tempting.

Everyone I,ve spoken to in relation to a seal kit for the box, says its a wast of time. It seems that the leak is caused by wear in the shaft.
I dont know how reconditioners rectify this, weather its a bigger seal or a re machined shaft.
Paddocks do a exchange box with arm for £ 114 plus vat and delivery !. ( 12 month warranty ).

Don't bother doing rebuild. I did the lower seal kit on mine and it was worse so ended up changing the steering box ! Do yourself a favour and change the box.

I agree, about to throw a new one on my TD5, and a new pump as that sounds like a bag of nails to............dont rain it pours!!
